It's NFL Sunday Gameday which means that in lieu of falling asleep in front of the TV this afternoon, I'm going to do a couple of game day posts for you instead.
First up: I Spy Private Eye by Briarpatch.

In one of the newest I Spy offerings from Briarpatch, you have 30 seconds to memorize the images on 9 picture cubes before they are covered up again. The object of the game is to then find as many images as possible on an I Spy picture card that you draw from the pile. You get a point for every image that you remember correctly. The other players have the option to steal the points for any image that they notice you forgot. It's a great game for building memory and observation skills.
Like every Briarpatch game that we've had the opportunity to try out recently, this game was easily adapted to make it easier to play with our almost 3-year old. Included with the game are two sets of cards, one being for beginners and the other for older players. Instead of using the timer with Nadia, we simply shook up the cubes, showed them to her and had her tell us what each image was. Then, we covered up the cubes, drew a card, and asked her to find the images on the card. We used the beginner set and she was easily able to play the "modified" game. I remember playing games with my husband's family when his little sister was young, and we always had the most fun when we could adapt the game to fit everyone's skill level. This way, no one had to be left out, but there were also no tears because the game was too hard for anyone, either. I Spy Private Eye is definitely a game our whole family will be able to enjoy together, even before each of our children is old enough to play it be the exact rules.

If you are an I Spy fan, you should definitely go check out all the games and puzzles that Briarpatch has to offer. There is an I Spy Preschool Game for kids 3+ as well as some new games including I Spy Spooky Night for Halloween and an I Spy Holiday Wishes card game. There is an I Spy game for everyone and then some!
Here's some stats on the game:
Age: This game is being sold for ages 5+. If you're not a stickler for following the rules exactly, this game was easily modified to play with our almost 3-year old. It's a game that will grow with her and will also allow her brother to be included long before they both reach the posted age of 5. Definitely something to keep in mind if you have multiple children.
Number of Players: 2-4
Skills: NO READING REQUIRED! Right now, this is one of the number one criteria when we are choosing a game. While this game does not require reading, don't think it won't be a challenge. The more rounds you play, the harder it gets to remember the 9 images that you just saw. I also think that you could cut the time in half to only 15 seconds of observation time to make the game even more difficult!
Price: $24.99 - As always, you can buy the game directly from Briarpatch, but you can also find I Spy Private Eye at Amazon.com as well.
Want to win an I Spy Private Eye game for your family's board game collection? Go visit the Briarpatch website and take a look at the entire collection of I Spy games. Choose the one that you think your family would most enjoy playing and come back here and leave us a comment letting us know which game it is and why it would be a hit at your house. Your comment will enter you in our giveaway to win one copy of I Spy Private Eye. As always, only one entry per household please, and you must be 18+ to win. All entries must be received by midnight on Monday, October 13th. Feel free to leave your email, but I will post the winners both here on Kid Buy Products and on Prizey.Fetch. You will have one week to claim your prize before we draw a new winner. Thanks for reading and Good Luck!
