Review and Giveaway: SafetyTats

SafetyTat is one of those ideas that everyone says they have, but this mom said it and did it and is still doing it! I started following this company after I saw a news clip about six months ago. I looked them up on the Internet and there they were. They had a few really cute designs and a newsletter that also gives discounts on their products. Well let me tell you this company in the last six months has blown up. They really listen to what the consumer wants, they are offering tons more cute designs and combining packs so that your little one can pick and choose the style they want to have emblazoned on their arm. The multi-design packs really are a money saver if you have a boy and girl, but you do not want to buy 60 tattoos, just get a combo pack of 30, but with two designs. Another change they have is the 2-line SafetyTat, now you can add two numbers or a number and a special message. The choices are unlimited really.
They have tattoos with information regarding autism, diabetes, food allergies, and the list goes on. Another good thing is that SafetyTat uses FDA compliant, medical-grade adhesive on all products. The adhesive is acrylic-based and does not contain latex.

My favorite new item has to be the new Quick Stick Write-On! tattoo. "It is an ultra-durable skin safe applique "tattoo" sticker that is waterproof and will last up to two weeks or until you are ready to remove it." I really like that the Quick Stick Write-On! requires no water to apply you just peel and stick. I mean seriously it was that easy! But the best thing to me about this new addition is that these skin applique tattoos are shipped blank. You can write anything you want on them with the included waterproof tattoo marking pen. This way there is no outdated phone number in case you move a ton like this Army family or you can put the grandparent's number, your friend's number, or even the school's number on it. I mean it does not get much more handy dandy useful than that!

We received some adorable two line pumpkin tattoos which we used the next day when we went to the pumpkin patch with a big group from church. They are so super easy to see and I had a ton of people comment on them. I had received samples of the Halloween designs so I handed them out so people could try them and see how super easy they were to use and how much the kids just like wearing the Halloween designs. My son is three and you know how this age is if they do not want to do it then you really just have to decide whether it is worth the fight. Well there was no decision necessary on this one because he was so excited. I mean we were going to the pumpkin patch and he was getting to wear a pumpkin tattoo, it does not get much better in the life of a 3 year old. I just peeled the transparent sheet off of the tattoo and held the picture side to his forearm for about a minute this is suppose to set the tattoo on the skin. I then soaked the tattoo with water and the backing peeled right off and the tattoo was on his arm. It has been four days and the tattoo is still on his pudgy little arm and you can mostly still see my number, I was going to post a picture up close, but then thought, hm, I love y'all, but maybe I do not want my number out there on the Internet, so you will just have to trust me on this one. There is only one number that is partially worn off after four days! You can see the nice size of the tattoo in the picture, he is covered in dusty dirt from the dirt slide, but you can still see it.

I experimented with the samples I received and the way the tattoo looked the best was for me to use a really wet paper towel. I pressed it with a dry hand onto the skin and then pressed the wet paper towel, not damp, but really wet over the backing. When I just poured the water on the backing the tattoo came out more wrinkled, so press with the wet towel for a smoother finish. I then peeled it slowly away and dabbed the tattoo gently with the paper towel and let the tattoo dry really well before he put his clothes on. A Tat Tip from the site is baby powder. I did not try this myself, but after your SafetyTat dries, and if it still seems sticky, sprinkle just a tad of baby powder on it and lightly rub. For Halloween I would definitely recommend thinking ahead about where you are going to put these so that the costume does not cover the tattoo up. I will be putting it on the top of the hand due to coverage of the costume on both Dozer and Badger, they are matching dinosaurs so they both have sleeves. Another place the SafetyTat site recommends is the back of their neck, hey you could even do it on their forehead, but you might want to get your Halloween pics done before hand!
Dozer cannot wait to use his Tat-the-Pirate tattoo for Halloween and sissy will wear Tessa. My favorite Halloween design is the Haunted House.

Another reason I love SafetyTat is that it has helped me to talk to Dozer about getting lost in an almost fun way and not too scary way. We put the tattoo on and I say oh how cool it looks and talk about it and then what the numbers mean and that if you cannot see mommy you should find a woman and show her your cool tattoo and tell her to please call your mommy. It is hard with his daddy being deployed for me to bring stuff like this up. I worry about him getting fearful about "losing me too" if I talk about it too much, so I really am relieved to have SafetyTat step in and help me with this scary topic. Also, a tip from the site is and one I already use is that I tell him to find a mommy - a woman is much more willing to totally stop what they are doing and help your child find you. Another tip from the site is if you get down on your knees and look around in a crowd, what do you see, legs pretty much that is all and you cannot see much more, no police uniforms, nothing to help identify a helper, just legs, so think about it from your child's point of view. I feel like these tattoos are a great visible reminder to your child to stay calm and gives them something to help them feel more powerful in this scary situation.

SafetyTat is so awesome! They are giving away THREE sets of Halloween Original SafetyTats and THREE sets of Quick Stick Write-On! Yes, you can receive these for this Halloween! Read the full review below, based on a 4-star scale:

Functionality **** - Super functional and fun for the kids and parents. Really easy to use and take up no real room in your purse or wallet, so they are super easy to grab on the go and keep with you all the time in case an impromptu shopping spree to the Opry Mills Mall hits you, hahaha. I truly think this would help Dozer feel like he could find mommy again and help him not panic.

Price ***1/2 - Starting at $19.95 for 30 are the Original SafetyTats and that calculates to 67 cents per tattoo, which is really a low price for the safety of your child and your child having something to make them feel proactive when feeling lost. Again, I truly think this would help Dozer feel like he could find mommy again and thus it is worth the cost to me and I like to think I am frugal on extras around our house. The pricing does go up with the amount of lines, but only marginally. For the Quick Stick Write-On! you receive 18 tattoos and a marking pen for $19.95, that is about $1.10 pet tattoo, so again you are not breaking the bank here for the added versatility.

Overall Rating **** - Excellent innovative product that can potentially save your child and help you broach the topic of staying with mommy and safety in a not so scary way, seriously you cannot beat that!

I like the Quick Stick Write-On Girl Tattoo Skin Applique. I'm not always the best about charging my cell phone or having it with me. So I never know what number is readily available. I like that you can customize to meet your needs! Thanks for the great giveaway!

What an excellent review! I love the idea of being able to put important information right on a child's arm. There are too many adorable tattoos to choose just one, so I would have to say my favorites are Skittles the cat and the dinosaurs, among others. What a great product.
