Travelin' with Tots - Giveaway Item- Review and Discount Code: BabySpareWear

About three months before this post I was introduced to BabySpareWear. Our good friend Laura (who we miss- Hi, Laura!) sent me a pack as a welcome gift for Adam. I was instantly amazed at the simple, good idea. BabySpareWear is a pre-assembled set of mix-and-match clothing for baby’s diaper bag. The outfits are two or three pieces (short and/or long sleeve shirts and pants), 100% cotton, light weight and thin, and sized a little large for longer use. Each ensemble comes with a plastic zippered case.

These packs of BabySpareWear solve every Mom’s dilemma of what “outfit” do I put in the diaper bag for the inevitable “just in case”. I assume like me, you’ve ended up with the Pooh hand-me-down pants, the spit-up stained extra onesie and the ugly sweater that so-and-so gave you at your shower (but you couldn’t return) all because you don’t want to waste the perfectly matched Gymboree outfit. Then baby has a blowout or spits up and your adorable petite looks like a clown.

BabySpareWear
has matched outfits for babies and toddlers, so these can carry you from diaper accidents to potty-training accidents. BabySpareWear come in a handful of styles. They are all basic solid colors with accent piping/finishing on the edges. This way the pieces all cross-match with each other.

We’ve used our BabySpareWear several times and it was nice to pull out a coordinated outfit for Adam to wear. It’s an embarrassing relief to not worry about how he’ll look in his extra outfit. Call me vain, but I like my babies to look perfect even in the extra diaper bag outfit.

The formal review follows, each rating of four stars:

Washability/Wear: **** Basic. Just what a Mom needs for an extra outfit. Comfy 100% cotton, washes well and does not seem to have shrunk. Tags say to wash in cold- oops, I didn’t, but the outfit was no worse for it. These don’t seem to be made for rough and tumble wear (purposely, I believe) the cotton is thin- this takes up much less space in the diaper bag.

Style: *** Two or three plain solid colored mix-and-match pieces, two tops and one pant. Most sets could be considered gender-neutral enough that they could easily be handed down, even boy to girl.

Sizing: **** S(0-6), M(6-12), L(12-18), then Toddler up to 4T. The BabySpareWear website says they are cut a bit generously for extra use. I agree. And it is nice to get extra wear out of anything for baby. Especially when it is for an outfit you really won’t use that much.

Price: * I wish I didn’t have to say that. Ranging from a low of $30, to a high in the $50 range (this is for some of the organic lines), this is awfully spendy for an outfit intended for, and relegated to, the diaper bag or daycare bin.

Overall Score: ** It is only this low because of the price. That having been said, this makes for an EXCELLENT baby shower gift. It isn’t something Mom would buy herself, but would definitely use. For the price, I’d suggest a larger size for longer use. Aside from the price, I love the idea and the product and am happy to have received it as a gift. I would have missed out as I would not have bought one myself. You can always check Amazon for lower prices.

Yeah, I'd say it's pricy, but the styles are so relaxing looking and I'd love the purple on my daughter since she looks so good in that color (aside from it being her favorite color in the world)...Great review and giveaway!!!
