Yep. I'm not afraid to say it, I listen to "kids" music. What choice to I have really? If we turn on the radio or the IPOD, the only words out of Nadia's mouth are, "I don't like this song." So, when I can find a CD that doesn't grate on my nerves, but is still fun for Nadia to listen to, then I feel I've been successful. Make Your Own Someday by The Jimmies is the newest album to make the playlist loop in our car. We've been listening to this fun album for about 2 weeks non-stop, everywhere we go. Not a meal passes without a little rendition of "Peanut Butter Polka" being sung by Nadia, or OK, I admit, sometimes myself. For the record, I'm partial to bananas and honey. Nadia prefers sprinkles (or jimmies?)and red hots! No, I'm not making that up!
My favorite songs? Besides the "Peanut Butter Polka, " I love Bedhead. It's straight out of the 80s with the feel of the Violent Femmes, Belinda Carlisle and The Bangles all wrapped up into one fun little song about hair. I can totally hear myself listening to "Taddy" back in the 5th grade. (Tiffany anyone?) and I'm bobbing my head right now just thinking about "Huptsha Huptsha." Nadia was singing "Teeth" to herself in the mirror the other night, and we'll be blasting "Somebody's Birthday" a week from today when Nadia turns 3! As with any album, not every one is going to love every song, but if you appreciate the fact that you're going to have to listen to music your kids want to listen to, you might as well make it The Jimmies. With no songs about poopy diapers or boogers, you won't find the album offensive. Just nice peppy songs about everyday things your kids can relate to and a little bit of humor just for the grown-ups!
The Jimmies has won numerous awards this year, and "What's That Sound" just made it to Number 1 on the XMKids Chart!

Here a few quick stats on the CD:
Ages: marketed as being for ages 4-8, Nadia finds plenty to relate to, and I like that it's real music, but with a kid's perspective on the world.
Price: You can get a copy of the album for $15 directly from The Jimmies website or $14.99 from Amazon. If you're in the market to update your playlist and are looking for a stocking stuffer, get your copy now!
Overall Rating: ***1/2 - We, meaning my daughter and I, LOVE this album. It's been on a continuous loop in our car for days.

What do I like on my peanut butter sandwich? More peanut butter. When I have a bad day, I come home, twist that jar off, grab a spoon, and go to town. It grosses my boyfriend out, but it is just so good!

If it's jelly, then it has to be strawberry for me. Otherwise I like to put bananas and honey on there for a sweet treat.
Thanks!

For myself, I love jelly on my sandwiches. My son is happy with Marshmallow Fluff or apple butter. I've also been known to add honey or chocolate once in a while for something sweet! Thank you for the contest!
