Review and Giveaway! Scholastic Storybook Treasures- The Night Before Christmas on DVD

I love the Holidays! Everything about them- the reason that they exist in the first place, the time with friends and family (and, okay, time off of work, too!) the food, the decorations... I even love the craziness of holiday shopping! As it turns out, I am raising a little lady who shares an equal, if not greater love for the holidays! Lilly is all about Santa, the story of baby Jesus and the "manager", and especially holiday movies. Last year, the only one that we owned was a DVD of that old Frosty the Snowman that many of you probably remember from your youth. I am not even kidding when I say that she watched that thing no less than 200 times! We even ended up giving her a Frosty-themed birthday party at the end of January last year. So, needless to say, I was very excited about the opportunity to review a new holiday movie! Click on Read More to learn about Scholastic Storybook Treasures video, The Night Before Christmas and to enter to win a copy of your own!

post signature

The Scholastic Night Before Christmas DVD included not only the title story, but 6 additional tales, including Seven Candles for Kwanzaa, In the Month of Kislev and Max's Christmas, featuring the characters of Rosemary Wells (Max and Ruby). The wide variety on this DVD make it a true collection of holiday stories which I liked. As parents we want to work hard to make sure that our children understand and appreciate the traditions of other religions and cultures even as we are celebrating our own- This DVD helps us do that in a kid-friendly way! I will admit that the video did not hold Lilly's interest the entire time and she came and went from it the entire time it was on. The target audience listed on the box is 3-9 and I think my almost three year was just a little young for the Read-Along storybook style. We will happily hold on to it and give it a go next year! Or who knows? Maybe if this holiday obsession continues we will still be watching it in March!

The Good People at Scholastic are giving away five copies of The Night Before Christmas DVD to five lucky readers. As my gift to you, I am going to make this giveaway super easy to enter- Just leave a comment on this post telling us your favorite holiday movie of all time. All comments must be received by 11:59 CST on Monday, December 22, 2008. We'll choose five winners using random.org. You can check out our official giveaway rules here.
