A Few of Our Favorite Things and a Giveaway!

In lieu of a big review post, I wanted to give a shout out to some of the stars of Christmas 2008 at our house. These are the things that not only brought delight on Christmas day, but are still being loved and played with everyday!

Galt Trampoline

Lilly had been asking Santa for a trampoline for weeks by the time Christmas finally rolled around. So much so that I had begun to think that there was no way that the actual thing could live up to her dreams! The good news is that it has! She loves this thing! On Christmas day, Lilly jumped for hours! Later, apparently worn out from jumping, I found her hanging upside from the safety bar by one leg, laughing, of course. It was scary looking to see for a mom, but when I rushed to grab the other side of the trampoline because I was sure that it would flip, it was actually still grounded and pretty stable. No, I wouldn't let her do it all of the time, but it is nice to know that the extra money we paid for the "safest" trampoline for little kids was worth it. My only complaint, and it is admittedly a silly one, is the weight limit--Lilly is having so much fun jumping, I want to try it, too!

Busy Basics Busy Ball Choo Choo
We have been fans of the Playskool Busy Ball Popper since Lil's first birthday, so I was excited to find this train that operates in much the same away. Push the button on top and the music plays and the train drives around. The balls go in the top and the train can be set to either shoot them out the back or swirl them around in side. One of the best things is that the button is easy to push for the little guy! I am always surprised and annoyed by how many cause and effect toys intended for older infants and young toddlers are not able to be used by said population because their buttons are too small or too hard to push. With the Choo Choo, Max can push the big button on top and then off he goes, following the train around the house. Plus, it even runs on our carpet! For a little guy who is so desperately attached to his mom that he would often rather be held than play with toys, this and the old Ball Popper are some of the few things that he will leave my hip for- Thank you, Playskool!

Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush
This thing is just plain cool. It is so cool, in fact, that it is difficult to describe. It's design is simple, just a plastic tray that holds a little strip of the those paint cups and a light up brush that is connected to the paint holder. The Color Wonder pad of paper can also be connected to the paint holder piece, but we found that it did not work all that well and just made things more difficult. Seemingly by magic, when you hold the lighted paint brush up to the little containers of what look like clear paint, they show brilliant colors. See what I mean? Difficult to explain, but very cool. Plus, since it is part of the color wonder stuff, it means that the paint will only show up on the special color wonder paper, not on your kids clothes!
I had ordered this item for Lil off of Amazon in November with the intent of giving it to her on Christmas. When it didn't show up for several weeks (due to a postal service problem) and Christmas was just days away, the Amazon retailer from whom I bought it, Click to Deal, graciously offered to overnight me another one at no charge! At a time when many retailers are struggling and customer service,in my opinion, often goes by the wayside, I was thrilled to have such a great experience. If the opportunity presents itself to purchase from them again, I will definitely do it. But wait, it gets better. When the originally-sent package also found its way to my door, Click to Deal agreed to let me pass the holiday happiness on to you by giving away a Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush to one lucky reader!!!
So,
If you want to win a Crayola Color Wonder Magic Light Brush of your own, just respond to this post and tell us about your outstanding present from this holiday season. Please include your email address, so that we can contact you if you win. All entries must be received by midnight on Thursday, January 15th. Please read our giveaway rules here.
Thanks for reading and Good Luck!

My outstanding gift was a desk that my husband and children made for me. I have been wanting a desk forever now, but needed a special size. The cost for a new one was pretty out there, so my husband, with our kids help, surprised me with a homemade one. It came out wonderfully. I was so touched that I cried when I saw it. The kids each put their initials on the back, stained it and varnished it.
Thanks so much for this giveaway.

I'm not sure if you meant that we gave, or that we received. I think the most outstanding gift I gave this year were gifts I gave in my own hand painted boxes. The lids on the boxes were not taped down, but closed using a single crochet stitch, long strands, that were tied in bows. That way the boxes could be used again, either for putting gifts in, in the future or for storing items the receiving person would like to keep in them. This was my first attempt at painting cardboard boxes from UPS arrivals to our home, and it worked out great. I think the receivers were less surprised by the gifts inside, then they were the boxes. The best gift I got was from my younger sister Nancy. My side of the family doesn't exchange gifts, so it was a wonderful and unexpected surprise when Nancy and her husband stopped by the day before Christmas with a gift for me and my husband. She brought us a gift basket of breakfast goodies from Cracker Barrel. There was enough in there for more than a few mornings. We've already had some of the yummy morning starters.
Right now I'm making Christmas Tree Ornaments using Christmas Cards from this year and my sis is giving me hers too. Some of them have turned out so well that I've surprised myself, as I have never attempted this crafting style before. Good luck to all.

The last gift I opened on Christmas was in this giant bag, one that went up to my hips. Inside was an HP monitor, which my sister told me was all she could get for me. I was totally fine with that, but then she went SIKE on me and let me know that she actually got me a whole computer. :D It was the one thing I really wanted but didn't quite ask for since I didn't want to be greedy, so I was thoroughly surprised~
