Review and Giveaway! hip-T

Is there anything more embarrassing than having the bagger at the grocery store quietly whisper to you that you might want to pull the back of your pants up while you're trying to quickly stuff your groceries into the bottom of the stroller? OK, yes, there are probably more embarrassing things, but this is right up there. Even if you haven't been completely embarrassed while revealing your girly "assets" at an inappropriate time, I'm sure you can relate to the constant hiking up of the back of your trendy low-cut jeans before you bend over to play with your little one or every time you sit down to a meal at a restaurant. I find myself only buying t-shirts that I know are long enough to keep my bum completely covered and don't even consider any styles that are shorter. Well, I didn't consider anything shorter until I discovered the hip-T! The ladies at hip-T have developed a solution for those"peek-a-boo thongs", "unattractive plumber's cracks" and the hated "muffin tops" that all moms battle.

Functionality **** - The hip-T is a very simple concept. It's just a band of slightly stretchy cotton/spandex fabric that goes under your shirt, but pulls down over the top of your pants. It's very similar to the bands you can buy for late in your pregnancy when none of your shirts are long enough to cover your belly. When I bend over to pick up a kid or to load groceries onto a stroller, the hip-T keeps my hips completely covered without any readjustment on my part. No more embarrassing bare skin! I know that you can just layer up with a tank top, but I'm a pretty warm-blooded person, and even in cold, cold Chicago, I don't like to dress in too many layers. Part of the functionality of the hip-T is that it is not as hot as wearing two full layers which will extend the wear into the summer, too. It looks just like an extra layer peeking out from under your shirt without the uncomfortable bulk! No special care is needed, either. You can wash and dry your hip-T with the rest of your clothes. Just like any cotton/spandex blend, the hip-T does stretch out a little when you wear it, but bounces right back in the laundry.


Sizing *** - If you're in between sizes, it's recommended that you buy the smaller size. I'm going to confirm this through experience. I was in between sizes and went with the smaller and have had no trouble. I say trust your judgment. My hip-T pulls down nicely over my hips, but also fits pretty well around my waist, too. It doesn't bunch up and look funny under my clothes which is important. I look like I'm wearing layers, not some medical band. The hip-T is available in sizes XXS-3X which means you're not too big or too small to stay covered!

Style **** - hip-Ts come in tons of colors, from the basic white and black, to burnt orange and fuchsia and even a zebra print if that's your thing. If you want to make an even bolder or one might say "fancier" statement, you can buy lace-trimmed versions as well for the same price!

Price *** - Most of the versions are $19.95, although many of the colors are on sale right now for only $15.95. If you look at the hip-T as a layering piece, it's not a totally bad price. Plus, you can probably squeeze more than one day's worth of wear out of one which means you don't have to have one for every day of the week! A small price to pay for a little extra coverage!

Overall Rating ***1/2 - What a simple solution to a common problem for so many moms out there. You can keep your bum covered while still looking young and hip and without the bulky feel of multiple layers! With an easy-to-care for design and large selection of colors, you can't go wrong! Err on the side of buying a size too small, and I don't think you'll be disappointed in the functionality of the hip-T.
