As the mother of a little boy, I'm quickly learning that boys really just can't help themselves. If a toy is small enough to throw, they must throw it. Luckily, Isaac is still small enough that he hasn't broken anything or really hurt anyone when he's hurled toys across the room. Hopefully by the time he's big enough to actually cause real damage, he'll also better understand that he should only throw balls and even then, only outside. Until then, I've been encouraging his need to throw with these cute little stuffed ani-balls called Lubies.

Fun Factor **** - Isaac loves stuffed animals way more than his sister ever did which I find very interesting and very cute. Since they are about
the size of a softball and filled with stuffing, not beans, Lubies are just the right size and weight for him to squeeze, and then for him to throw across the room when he's finished. They are super soft and squishy, too. The first release of Lubies this spring included 11 different animals, all of which are easy to distinguish. Even though the animals are round, a cat clearly looks like a cat and a penguin like a penguin making them great for Isaac's early language development. We can show him the cat and say meow and he won't be confused because the cat looks like a dog. This may seem insignificant, but trust me, we've got some animals that are easy to confuse for a different animal. The colors are bright and the animals faces are friendly making them a great toy for a toddler.
Materials/Durability **** - The animals seem to be made to last.
Price **** - You can get a Lubie for only $8.99 right now on their
site Plush Stuffed Animal World.com. Not a bad price, at all. I know they carry them in our local toy store, too. I'm looking forward to the 2nd release. I'd love to see that walrus and the shark in person!
Overall Rating **** - Lubies seem to be making a return to more simple toys. No, these plush animals don't play music or have a website for you to interact with them, but personally, I think that's ok. I'm all about my kids playing with toys that allow them to use their imagination, and that won't break my TV when my 14 month old launches one at it! They'd make a cute and original first birthday present for a little friend, too.

I love your observation about boys throwing because the HAVE to. Adam is already the same way and I can picture him hurling one of these. Boys. They are adorable creatures. I'm learning a lot.
Oh yes, just wait Alexandra. Isaac's whole "boyness" has really blossomed in the past couple of months. He loves balls and mud and sticks and playing in the toilet. Tonight for dinner he ate a piece of pizza, a 1/2 a bowl of mac n cheese, a hot dog and some blueberries. Wait. Did I just write that. Umm, I meant to say e ate a nice healthy salad, a broiled chicken breast, some whole grain pasta with olive oil and grated parmesan cheese and some blueberries. :) Either way, if he can eat that much at 1, what will he eat at 14!
Series 2 is set to ship in mid July - check http://lubieland for fun games and updates
