Unlike my fellow KidBuy contributors, we haven't yet had the pleasure of viewing a Scholastic DVD so I was excited when the new CHICkA CHICkA 123 DVD arrived. We have the CHICKA CHICKA ABC book which my oldest loves, so I knew she'd take to it right away. The graphics are fun and true to the book. I think that seeing the numbers in action really help those who are just learning their numbers. If you've got a number/counting fan, this is a fantastic DVD to get!

In addition to CHICKA CHICKA 123, there are three other animated stories including:
- Emily's First 100 Days Of School (by Rosemary Wells, narrated by Diana Canova)
This is fun but long. It literally shows a bit for each of Emily's first 100 days of school. This is good because it clearly highlights each number separately, but around the twentieth day my gal loses interest....granted she just turned 3, but it is recommended for ages 3 and up.
- How Much Is A Million? (by David M. Schwartz, illustrated by Steven Kellogg)
This bit was actually my favorite because it put into perspective how much 1 million, 1 billion, and 1 trillion really mean (like how long it would take you to count to each...which is a loooong time, way longer than I realized). I think it's a little over my gal's head but she enjoyed the illustrations.
- If You Made A Million (by David M. Schwartz, illustrated by Steven Kellogg) This was similar to the above, but delves into the world of money which is something that my gal needs to start learning since we're starting to tell her if she wants something she needs to pay for it herself!
My formal review is below, each category of four stars.
Functionality: *** 1/2 - The Emily story is pretty long and some kids may lose interest. But, I can definitely see this DVD helping my girls to not only count, but to recognize and begin to write their numbers. Plus it features newly updated Read-Along captioning on the title story, which can help kids just learning to read. The narration/songs and illustrations are whimsical and fun.
Price: *** - $14.95 for 4 stories. Plus right now it's 10% off on Scholastic's site. That's ~$3.25/story, much less than buying each one as a book.
Overall Score: *** 1/2 - This is a great tool to aid in your kid's counting and number education.

Bear Snores is oh, so appropriate for our house. I think we would all get a kick out of it because the Papa Bear in our house rocks the walls with his snoring, and it's a regular pastime here, to joke about it.
