Review and Giveaway!: Camelbak Kid's Bottles

I've been a fan of Camelbak for a long time. We don't go on hikes without their Hydration Packs. So, I was excited to try out their new Kid's Bottles and haven't been disappointed.

For those frustrated with the recent Siig announcement re: the fact that their earlier bottles were not BPA-free, you should definitely consider the Camelbak Kid's Bottles. These are BPA-free and I much prefer their design.
Click on "Read More" to learn more about Camelbak's new Kid's Bottles and how to win one of your own!

All criteria based on 4 star scale.
Design/Functionality *** 1/2 - One of the biggest things I want in a water bottle is something that is leak-free. These are awesome, the spout easily snaps down and not a drop has come out...even when the spout is up it hasn't leaked. The thing I like most about their design is the fact that it uses Camelbak's patented "bite valve". This means that I don't have to turn the spout open or closed for my kids to use it.

The other great thing about the design is that the straw/spout are just two pieces, it's easy to take out and put back in for cleaning. And, the lid has a handy loop for you to attach it to bags via carabine or velcro.

The only downside is I'd like a thinner, "sippy-cup" handled option. My 11 mo. old can use it but if they had a version like that I'd prefer it for her.

Materials **** - It is BPA-free Tritan. Very strong and all parts are dish-washer safe....another big advantage over the Siig-type bottles. Plus, I dropped the Siigs all the time and they had a lot of dents. My Camelbak bottles have also had their share of drops and have stayed in-tact, dent and crack free.

And, for those concerned about the whole BPA thing, Camelbak seems truly dedicated to this and their CEO has a letter addressing it if you're interested.

Style *** 1/2 - There are 10 cute design/color options with no licensed characters. Five are skewed more towards girls and five are more to the boys. My oldest loves her Mermaid one and she chose the Zinnia one for my youngest.

Cost **** - These are $14. Cheaper than the smallest Siig and a great value in my opinion. These are much cheaper than buying plastic bottles of water over time. $14 is a small investment to help both your pocket book and the environment.

Overall *** 3/4 - Just short of a perfect review because I'd like to see a "sippy-style" alternative, but these are now our water bottles and we won't be going back.

Are you itching to try one for yourself? The kind folks at Camelbak have offered two bottles to give away...one for each gender. Just leave a message on this post telling us what appeals most to you about these new bottles and if you'd like a girl or boy design. All entries must be received by midnight on Thursday, September 24th. Winner must be 18+ and a U.S. resident. You can read the full contest rules here.

Thanks for reading and Good Luck!

I love that they are drip-resistant. I just spent $11 on an Eddie Bauer water bottle for my kindergartener to take to school and found that it leaked everywhere in her backpack :(

I would like the girl one if chosen.

I like that it's lightweight, I don't have to worry about dents, it's BPA free and easy for my children to use and clean yet leak proof.

I would prefer the boy's design

I have four children three of which are in sports and school and we are always on the go. We are constantly grabbing water bottles as we head out the door and I have yet to find one that I really like. I would love to try it! I have two boys and two girls so either pattern would be fine.

I like that they are bpa free and leak free. I can't seem to find any bpa free bottles that are both, so I am happy to hear about these.

With three girls, I would want a girl design one.
