Giveaway! Scholastic Storybook Treasures: Where the Wild Things Are and 5 more stories by Maurice Sendak

It's a Scholastic Storybook Treasures kind of week here at Kid Buy Products. On Tuesday, Melissa introduced you to A Very Brave Witch just in time for Halloween, and today I'm here to share Where the Wild Things Are in honor of the release of Where the Wild Things Are on the big screen today! This is probably the 20th Scholastic Storybook Treasures DVD that I've watched, and as always, I enjoyed the experience almost as much as my kids. I've covered all the reasons why I find them to be a great use of television time for my kids in previous posts, but I also realized with this DVD, that I also enjoy the collections because they introduce my children to classic stories that they've never heard before like In the Night Kitchen and Chicken Soup with Rice. In fact, I'd completely forgotten about how fun Chicken Soup with Rice was until Nadia and I watched it the other day. She loved learning about the months of the year, and we added the actual book to her Amazon wish list.

No matter how good a movie remake of a book is, I've yet to see one that matches up to the joy of the original. With the Scholastic Storybook Treasures, there are no fancy special effects or changes to the story for the sake of big screen appeal. Your children get to watch their beloved favorites come to life with simple animation and good old-fashioned storytelling. I've said before that I don't consider these DVDs to be a substitute for snuggling up and reading with my children, but if they are going to be watching TV anyway, I'd definitely prefer it being something with so much educational value.

As always, you can buy the videos directly from the Scholastic Storybook Treasures site: http://www.newkideo.com/ or you can find Where the Wild Things Are and lots and lots of other titles on our associate site, Amazon.com, too!

Are your kids begging for more Where the Wild Things Are? Well, today is your lucky day because we have not one, not two, but three copies of the Scholastic Storybook Treasures Where the Wild Things Are and 5 more stories by Maurie Sendak to give away today! Included in the collection is In the Night Kitchen, The Nutshell Kids, Alligators All Around, One was Johnny and the classic, Chicken Soup with Rice. If you'd like the chance to win, please visit the Scholastic Storybook Treasures website at http://www.newkideo.com/. Choose a favorite collection and come back to this post and tell us what it is. Your comment will enter you to win one of 3 copies of Where the Wild Things Are and 5 more stories by Maurie Sendak. All entries must be received by midnight on Monday, October 26, 2009. Winners must be 18+ and a resident of the U.S. to win. You can check out our giveaway rules HERE. Thanks for reading and Good Luck!
