Review: My Oleda

As I listen to the rain fall here in Seattle on this quiet afternoon, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you yet another local company I recently discovered: My Oleda. Not only is My Oleda a local company, but it is also run by a fellow mom of two. I've always admired those who can create with their hands, and My Oleda is definitely not an exception to this rule. From adorable hats, to beautiful sweaters, and some of the most adorable baby booties, you'll definitely be able to find something unique and beautiful for your own little fashionista! Click on Read more below for my review of the Hadley sweater from My Oleda.

Review is based on a four-star scale:

Washability and Wear ***1/2 - I'm only giving the adorable sweater below three and a half stars in this category, and it's for the simple reason that even I, the queen of throwing everything in the washer and dryer without blinking an eye, can't consider sacrificing this sweater to the laundry gods. Might it survive if I didn't pull it out and hang it up to dry? Perhaps, but I'm not willing to take the chance. So, be warned that you will have to sort through the wash to make sure this doesn't make it to the dryer. That being said, I did simply throw it in with all the rest of Nadia's clothes in the wash, and it came out looking like new. The brown flower comes off making it easy to keep it looking perfect, too. As for the quality/wear, this is the one area that I believe handmade goods always excel. Lots of love and hard work goes into each creation. There is no way that it is going to simply fall apart. We will be passing this beautiful garment down to a friend (or maybe a sibling) someday.
Here is Nadia in her beautiful lime green with chocolate Hadley sweater. Notice Isaac making sure he is not left out of the photo, either. Do you know how many pictures I have that look exactly like this? Little brothers just want to be included, too.

Style **** - The Hadley sweaters are my favorite style because the whole layered look is so cute, but I LOVE the baby booties, too. What a fantastic baby gift they would make, as would the baby cocoons. And, while I don't feel tall enough to pull one off, I love sweater dresses on Nadia. Plus, you can easily customize your My Oleda garment using this simple online form.

Price *** -
Sweaters start at the base price of $32. And, here's the deal, if you are looking for handmade and possibly even customized clothing as cute as what you'll find at My Oleda, my guess is that you're also willing to pay for it. You're not going to find handmade goods at Target prices. They just don't exist. However, if you like to indulge in handmade clothing either for yourself or your children, I think you'll find that My Oleda's prices are very reasonable. I've certainly seen handmade goods for sale for much more outlandish prices! Plus, if you register with My Oleda online, you will get an email for 10% off your next purchase!

Overall Rating ***1/2 - Once again, beautiful handmade clothing at affordable prices. Plus, you will be supporting a very talented local mom. I highly recommend taking some time to browse through the My Oleda store. Once again, I'm proud to introduce you to such a fantastic Pacific NW treasure!
